West Pomeranian police officers have entered a new phase of airspace security with the deployment of our HAWK mobile anti-drone system. This pioneering and comprehensive solution makes it possible not only to detect unauthorised drones, but also to determine the location of operators, monitor the flight of drones, but above all, effectively neutralise them – even from a distance of 5 km. This unique support can prove helpful when securing mass events, increasing the level of security during high-risk events. It is worth mentioning that the ubiquity of drones – nearly 300,000 devices in amateur hands – even in unaware hands can become a potential threat. We hope that other units will follow in the footsteps of the Szczecin Command.
How was the implementation carried out?
The MCWTiD (Mobile Centre for Technical Support and Command) vehicle was developed for the Provincial Police Headquarters in Szczecin. It is a special vehicle used to carry out security activities for mass events and ad hoc protection of objects such as critical infrastructure. The MCWTiD was created on the basis of a Mercedes Sprinter with two fully equipped operator compartments (seats, tables, cabinets, lighting, air conditioning, heating, refrigerator, coffee machine) enabling operational activities to be conducted continuously and ensuring safety (the vehicle is equipped with 360-degree cameras around the vehicle).
The vehicle has two sources of power supply – a genset built into the technical space of the vehicle (separate from the operator compartment) and a 230V power supply option. The technical compartment also contains a rack, which houses all the key elements for the operation of the systems, such as computers, servers, switches and power ups. Of course, apart from the base, which is the vehicle, the most important role is played by our systems.
What was ultimately included in the mobile centre?
Drone detection subsystem:
Detection was based on an RF detector, with a detection range of up to 8 km. The device indicates the drone’s position, speed, altitude, model and also the position of its operator, which is crucial for the Police when securing events. The detection subsystem has been supplemented with a camera that automatically targets the drone and allows it to be identified.
Management and monitoring centre:
The Mobile Technical Support and Command Centre provides the ability to conduct operations continuously and effectively manage incidents in real time, all all thanks to our proprietary Hawk C2 software, which in real time visualises the air situation in real time and allows for real-time response to threats.
Drone neutralisation:
The built-in omnidirectional neutraliser enables communication between the drone and the pilot to be effectively disrupted, leading to a controlled landing or sending the drone back to the launch site.
MCWDiT is not just an anti-drone system:
Various security and communication systems have been installed on the vehicle, which are used by the police in their day-to-day operations, including a camera and surveillance system that has been integrated with the city’s CCTV. Taking care of comfort, the vehicle is equipped with air conditioning, heating, a refrigerator or a coffee machine coffee machine.
